Customizable Tanning: Can the tan be personalized?

Last modification:

When we talk about tanning, customization is a must. Beyond the light, medium, or dark tones that we are familiar with, there is a universe we call "mixing." Mixing is the process of blending different shades of dihydroxyacetone (DHA) to create the desired tone, always adapting to the client's skin tone and undertones. Once we understand this process, we can apply the right tanning solution.

Customizing a tan is primarily about enhancing and breaking the pale tone, enlivening a darker complexion, achieving uniformity, or even neutralizing yellowish tones. This way, a golden tan can be achieved without prolonged exposure to the sun.

To personalize a tan, the technician needs to know the context in which it is being done. Is it for a wedding? Is the client the bride? Is it for a trip or a special dinner?

The experience of using self-tanners at home is not the same for everyone. Some seem to be lucky and achieve the desired tone, while others may end up with a more yellowish or unnatural result, or they may feel uncomfortable with the smell. With spray tan, this is not an issue when the formula is customized. The mixing process and appropriate percentages help achieve the best result.

If you decide to purchase a self-tanner to apply at home and you are not an expert, you will need assistance in choosing a tone that blends perfectly with your skin. You may also need help reaching areas that are difficult to access and ensuring that no areas are left unevenly tanned for days.

It may seem like a simple task, but color matching is the first step to ensuring a tan does not look artificial, orange, and, most importantly, that you feel comfortable in your own skin.
